We are reprising last month’s meetup theme! Except this time, we'll be meeting after the presentations on Gather.town

DWeb Camp 2026 was a big success: We had over 370 campers come out to the Brandenburg forest with over 350 sessions and activities taking place day and night. Even if you were there last month, it would have been impossible to experience all that took place.

One of the pillars of DWeb Camp is JOMO (Joy Of Missing Out):

At Camp, there is more than you can ever possibly experience in one day or one week. Be present and content with where you are at any given moment.

Whether you were camping with us or were unable to make it, we don’t want you to have missed out on some of the best sessions. That’s why our next virtual meetup(s) will feature a few projects and takeaways from Camp. Here are this month’s speakers:

• Eileen Wagner, Tonk: Eileen is a logician turned UX designer, who is now Head of Product at Tonk. Tonk a project building systems for “small software”, which doesn’t require a database service, an identity and authentication service, a hosting platform, or a purchased domain name. They’re working on systems to allow people and machines to share data and stay in sync without buying into platform infrastructures. She’ll also present one of their core technologies, Dialog-DB, which uses CRDT-like structures to allow for eventual consistency across partitions of data and build cloud stack functionality with a local-first approach.

• Nano Castro, Open Source Soil Health Monitoring Kit: Nano is a founding member of Cooperativa Ayllu and teacher at the Open Agroecology Lab, based in Mendoza, Argentina. He will share the Open Source Soil Health Monitoring Kit, which helps farmers, organizations, and technicians collaboratively assess soil health while fostering community building and peer-to-peer learning. It combines a set of open laboratory tools and protocols with a companion app that guides the testing workflow, records results, collects standardized metadata through integrated surveys, and enables users to visualize, compare, and interpret soil health indicators. Beyond generating soil data, the project aims to support collective learning and the co-creation of locally relevant soil health knowledge.

• Day Waterbury, OpenHaven: Day is a co-steward of the Collaborative Tech Alliance and co-steward of the DWeb SF Bay Area Node. He is also co-founder of OpenHaven a community-led decentralized technology navigator that exists to make the protocol landscape legible and navigable to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Day will share how OpenHaven encourages collaboration and interoperability of protocols and platforms across the DWeb, as it champions modularity, composability, user-control, and pragmatism.

• Andre Garzia, Poncho Wonky: Andre is a writer and software developer. He’ll present Poncho Wonky, a desktop social app for Secure Scuttlebutt (SSB). SSB a local-first, offline-first, decentralised platform. Due to the nature of the SSB protocol, Poncho Wonky doesn't require servers or accounts — that means users’ data and identities live in their devices and is shared among friends and followers. Andre will share his experience building this new SSB client off of Patchwork.
